Landscapes, Panoramics, & Portraits
For as long as I can remember, ever since I was a child growing up in Australia, the UK, Canada, Africa and California, I loved being in nature. In the wilderness of these countries, I began to take photographs to create a spiritual connection to the land and to put on film the existential feeling of spirit and place that I felt. I found that often I could only express my true feelings about nature in black and white – and so began a lifetime’s mission to photograph the wilderness around the planet, mostly in black and white. Soon my passion for nature combined with my connection to traditional cultures and I began photographing people in the landscape and creating environmental portraits. Both were in an effort to be a part of the powerful message on conservation that still images can evoke. In this portfolio, I hope to share my passion and respect of landscape and to show how culture is intricately woven into the narrative of mankind and our relationship to the land.
